A 1U, 24-port Category 6 patch panel — the key component where all the network cables arriving in the server cabinet (from wall sockets) are terminated at a central, organised point and then connected to the switch with short patch cords. Category 6 comfortably carries Gigabit networks and allows speeds of up to 10 Gbit/s over short distances. The unshielded (UTP) construction is perfectly adequate in a standard office environment and simplifies installation. The 110/Krone termination blocks at the back allow fast, reliable cable connection with a punch-down tool, and the numbered ports on the front panel make tracing cables easier later on.
